Lauren Kelly

Her favorite memory (like Rachel's below) was that muddy game of Powder Puff football... catch up with Lauren Kelly ten years later, still a football fan (Tigers) and now planning her wedding!

Questions

Favorite High School Memory Hands down my favorite memory was our Powder Puff game our senior year when it poured down rain and we played in the mud at Crestview. It took 2 showers and 8 towels to get rid of the mud but playing with everyone and sliding down the huge hill was something I’ll never forget! A very close second would have to be the junior year Academic Pep Assembly. Crosby Mulwee was “Ferris Bueller” and myself, Ashley Graham and Karen Holthouse were his backup dancers from the parade scene in the movie and I loved every minute of it! I never thought I could do something like that in front of the school but it was a great experience!

Favorite High School Class Ms. Peter’s Senior Lit class was great because her energy and passion for teaching got the entire class into the lecture and we had fun with it! There’s also a tie for second place with Burkard’s history class and Ms. Glenn’s Psych class.

Favorite High School Activity: I could list many but the ones that stand out the most were our volleyball tournaments most Saturdays. In four years we spent innumerable hours in various gyms dancing, singing and winning against the best of them. The time we spent together could classify us as a second family to each other and the amount of food consumed between us girls… holy cow… Also leaving during Yearbook senior year to go “sell ads”… we really went to Bread Co. for a late lunch and sometimes I went home to change for practice…

In 2002, I spent my weekends: Sitting in the stands at football/basketball games cheering on my friends; most were cheerleaders and football/basketball players so I attended many sports events in my four years (including my own)! Also we drove around figuring out “whose house we were going to” after the games. Many Saturdays were spent competing in volleyball/basketball tournaments and track meets so Sunday was a “catch up on sleep” day.

In 2012, I spend my weekends: Tailgating with Alyson Peipert, her husband Adam and friends (during football season), tagging along with Chris on the golf course (during nice weather) and chasing after our Sheltie puppy Buddy who keeps us busy 24/7! We’ve also attended quite a few weddings this year which kept us busy during summer and fall.

Any other thoughts to add about LHS or the Class of 2002?

You don’t realize it at the time but we were truly blessed and lucky to have had the teachers and support at Lafayette that most students/schools don’t have. Every activity and event was done by staff and parents who truly cared about us and our experience in high school. Watching my brother and sister have the same experience really made me see that we were given a great platform to do amazing things after our days at LHS. We were also supportive of each other as a class; I lost my dad in 2003 and to see many of my former classmates show their support to me when I needed it was beyond words. It is something that I will always remember about our class.

What I'm up to now

After earning my degree in Business Administration and Management from Columbia College, I currently work as a store manager for Crazy 8/Gymboree here in Columbia, Missouri. My fiancée Chris and I have a home here and we are getting married June 2, 2012! Wedding planning has taken up most of my time and I love every minute of it!
