She may be a teacher at Marquette, but our senior class president will always be a Lancer at heart.

Questions

Favorite High School Memory: Man is that a tough one, there were just so many great ones I don't know if I can pick. I guess I would have to say the Academic Pep Assembly senior year. Gettting to perform the awesome routine Ms. Rummell helped us put together, planning the skits, spending time with Jennane from the High School of Economics and Finance in NY to appreciate what her high school went through on 9-11, and getting to share that last assembly and performance with all of my friends.

Favorite High School Class: AP Lit with Mrs. Tinnucci! The first class that Karen and I had together in high school (which those of you in there can attest went far better than anyone would have thought) and I learned so much about literature and life in that class. She claims to this day that it was her favorite class as well. We all loved the class so much that when we had two snow days in a row we actually called her and the rest of the class and got together at Borders to have class on a snow day! I have the great fortune to still cross paths with Mrs. Tinnucci occasionally at district workshops and even made it to her hour to pick apples last fall!

Favorite High School Activity: It is hard to say because I really enjoyed so many of the things that I did in high school and they were all so different but I would have to say cheer was probably the favorite because it was such a huge part of all four years of high school. Not to mention my two best friends to this day-Alyson (Eising) Peipert and Alex Panos (soon to be Panos-Porter) were cheerleaders with me. A close second would be getting the chance to be class president senior year; helping to plan our speical senior events, picking out senior shirts and planning the fundraiser for the High School of Economics and Finance after 9-11.

In high school, I'd spend my weekends: At LHS school football games, basketball games, swim meets, club meetings, STUCO events and pretty much at school. I think I spent 16 of every 24 hours senior year at LHS. Well unless Struve was having a party...

In 2010, I spend my weekends: At MHS football games, basketball games, swim meets and more. I guess I just moved down the street with my hobbies. When I am not at school I can usually be found at the free events up at Wildwood Town Center (a mile from our house), catching a movie, traveling to visit friends or spending time with family.

Any other thoughts to add about LHS or the Class of 2002?
To this day I feel very blessed to have had such a wonderful high school experience, and I credit the great people that I learned from and with for that. We are all so lucky to have been a part of the best class LHS has ever seen, and don't worry even if I wear blue and green to school I still am a Lancer at heart! I have actually gotten quite a bit of trouble around MHS for selecting black, white and yellow as wedding colors!

What She's Up to Now:

I am in my fourth year teaching at Marquette High School. I teach at-risk students in alternative 11th and 12th grade English classes and I could not love my job more. The students are some of the most amazing young people in the world and I love them so much that I miss them when we are on break. I also am the assistant coach of the girls swimming and diving team. I started last summer working with a non-profit summer camp, Sherwood Forest, teaching reading and deveoping a summer literacy program for the campers there. I live in Wildwood in the Villages of Cherry Hills with my fiance Jevon Meals, our cat Broadway and our dog Zoe. Jevon and I are getting married in St. Louis next July where four LHS grads will be standing with me as bridesmaids (my sister Karen, Alex, Alyson, and Lauren Kelly).
