What was Ryan like as a little boy?
Ryan had an inner passion that he carried throughout his life. Whatever
interested him, he would eat, sleep and breathe it until it was mastered, whether
it was skateboarding, karate, bike racing, swimming or ice hockey. He was so
much FUN and he knew how to make his mom smile.
What did Ryan like most about going to Lafayette High School and the
Rockwood community?
Ryan loved the community we lived in. While Ryan was in boot camp, he wrote a
letter home that said, "I see a lot of sadness in here (boot camp) mom, guys that
are so much less fortunate and I know now the place where I grew up is special.”
Hands down, Ryan’s favorite class was U.S. history.
What were Ryan's goals for his future?
His plan was to have a career as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corp and, after
retirement, teach U.S. History to high school students. Ryan also wanted to have
a family of his own.
What do we want people to most remember about Ryan?
He was the type of individual to look a challenge in the face and conquer it
because he knew he would come out a stronger person. He had a smile that
could light up a room, and a kindness in his heart that was honest and pure.
